One of the most painful verdicts I’ve written. After consistently being linked with him for ages, Yarmolenko punished Everton fans by scoring two great goals. It’s scary how much we rely on Richarlison. Past problems still ooze in this club. Embarrassing.

STAR MAN: LUCAS DIGNE West Ham employed a relentless pressing game which stifled Everton. The craft and guile of Arnautovic and Yarmolenko had their defence in turmoil. This was a staggeringly good display which justified Manuel Pellegrini’s determination to stand true to his beliefs. A springboard for an assault on the top half.
