÷ John Lyttle, 51, is the richest shopkeeper you’ve never heard of. ÷ Born in 1967 in Ireland, he lives in Sevenoaks, Kent, and is married with three children. ÷ After leaving school he joined Primark as a trainee store manager. ÷ He worked his way up to top jobs at Matalan and Arcadia Group. ÷ In 2010, he was made chief operating officer at Primark.

÷ His main hobby is running and he has completed six marathons.

÷ Lyttle will take over at Boohoo in March next year on a basic salary of £615,000.

÷ His annual bonus is worth up to £922,500 and he could collect a further payment of £50m.
