LAMPARD’S NOT SO COOL NOW

-

ON the night when referee Tom Henning Ovrebo turned in arguably the poorest performance in recent European history, Frank Lampard did not lose his head. Barcelona progressed unjustly to a Champions League final due to Ovrebo’s decisions at Stamford Bridge, but Lampard was not among the four Chelsea players booked or the three that verbally abused the Norwegian official after the game. Didier Drogba required physical restraint and was banned for six matches, Jose Bosingwa for four, Michael Ballack was lucky to escape. Lampard, while no doubt every bit as furious, kept control. On Saturday, though, a decision leading to Derby’s 1-0 defeat at Rotherham made him so angry he was shown a red card and sent to the stands. Does funny things to you, football management. Players don’t know the half of it.
