Arsenal fans will get chance to grill Gazidis

- Charles Sale

ARSeNAL chief executive ivan Gazidis will face serious questioning from fans on Sunday about the fiasco surrounding his future at the club.

Gazidis has somehow been allowed by the Arsenal board to spend seven weeks deliberating on whether to accept an offer from AC Milan, despite the destabilising effect of having your lead administrator in limbo for such a period.

He is almost certain to make the move to italy, but Gazidis is committed to facing a fans’ forum before the home match against everton.

The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust have long held the club to account, and intend to ask Gazidis, who earns an annual package of £2.5million with a 12-month notice period, how he can justify taking so long to make up his mind.

The trust will also want to know why there was no mention about Gazidis’s possible departure when owner Stan kroenke sent out his offer document in August to buy up Alisher Usmanov’s 30 per cent stake in the club.

By then AC Milan’s approach to Gazidis was already in the public domain. kroenke said in the offer details that he had complete faith in the Arsenal management team.

Meanwhile, former AC Milan general manager Umberto Gandini, who is due to return as Gazidis’s deputy if he goes to italy, will leave Roma whether or not Gazidis ends up in Milan.
