THE rebranding of cannabis from an illegal substance beloved of hippies and layabouts into a miraculous cure- all for the modern age continues apace.

The latest is that Coca-Cola is in talks with a cannabis producer, Aurora Cannabis, to produce a ‘functional wellness beverage’ designed to harness the health benefits of cannabidio­l, aka CBD. This is said to have a raft of health benefits including easing inflammati­on and pain.

Yeah, yeah. That’s not why the kids are going to buy it, though, is it? tHErE’S no question that Nigella Lawson and Mary berry, who have new projects to promote, are wonderful cookery writers. but they both look as though not a carb has passed their lips in IN ITS infinite wisdom, the Royal College of Midwives is keen to bring back the dreaded pregnancy ‘weigh-in’.

Yes, there’s an obesity crisis — but fat-shaming pregnant women isn’t helpful, it’s cruel.

And anyway, the one time in her life when a woman doesn’t have to worry about the size of her belly is surely when she’s got another life on board. Can’t she just be allowed to enjoy it? years. Quite what all the wannabes, has-beens and in-betweens will do without it is anyone’s guess. return to the primordial swamps whence they came, I imagine.

but one thing’s for sure: britain will be a far better place without it. Vince cable, the leader of the liberal Democrats (remember them) had planned to describe the brexit vote as an ‘erotic spasm’ in his leader’s speech yesterday. in the event he fluffed the line, and it came out as ‘exotic spresm’. Sadly for Sir Vince, i fear he’s more the latter than the former.
