Bottoms up ... but not in prudish Edinburgh
One poster shows bare bottoms, and the other barred bottoms. The reason? The decency police north of the border have slapped a five-bar gate across the naked rear ends of a group of ladies running into the hills for fear it will offend audiences.
The censored poster outside edinburgh’s Festival Theatre advertises a touring production of Calendar Girls Musical, Gary Barlow and Tim Firth’s show about ladies who pose nude for a calendar.
Yet audiences further south are embracing the ‘ungated’ version of the giant poster outside the Liverpool empire.
‘The poster is a celebration of beautiful ladies of all sizes, which is exactly what the spirit was of the original calendar — so why censorship now?’ despairs producer David Pugh, who was forced to provide alternative artwork.
