MILNER KEPT WAITING ON NEW ANFIELD DEAL
LIVErPOOL are yet to open talks with James Milner over a contract extension. The midfielder has enjoyed a stunning start to the season as Jurgen Klopp’s side have won each of their first six games. Milner’s current deal expires at the end of next season. Yet Sportsmail understands that Milner has not been approached about a new deal, despite rumours a one-year extension was discussed earlier this year. While tee-total Milner is 32, his longevity or work-rate is not in question, with his international retirement in 2016 giving the player a new lease of life. In the 2-1 victory over Tottenham he covered eight miles and provided the platform for Liverpool’s front three to attack. Yesterday Milner was named on a shortlist for the Champions League player of the week for his role in Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over Paris SaintGermain, in which he scored a penalty.
