YOU
wait years for a brand-new Bentley GT Continental Convertible — then two top-secret ones come along.
Seen for the first time on British roads, I spotted s a pair of the lightly disguised 200 mph s soft-top cabriolets in a larger seven-strong c convoy thundering towards me on an o otherwise deserted country road this week.
So far from their home factory in Crewe, they were putting the car through its paces in tests on Britain’s often-potholed roads. I followed them to a lay-by on the A40 near Oxford where they stopped to swap drivers, and I took a few photographs (left).
Bentley has not officially admitted it’s making a drop-top version of its hard-top grand tourer which went on sale earlier this year. However, I understand it will make an announcement in the run up to Christmas ahead of the car going on sale early next year priced at about £180,000.
That’s a £20,000 mark-up on the 207mph Bentley Continental GT coupe, with a 6.0litre W12 turbo-charged petrol engine.
