I WANT ANOTHER JOB, SAYS OUTGOING LLOYD’S BOSS

-

THE departing boss of Lloyd’s of London said she wants another top job, as the insurance market posted a sharp fall in profits. Inga Beale, who is leaving Lloyd’s next month after five years in charge, is seeking another chief executive role. She said: ‘I’m ready for another big role. That’s what I’m hoping to get next year. Soon I will start those conversations with headhunters.’ The comments came as the firm revealed profits of £600m for the first half of 2018 after a string of natural disasters, 50pc lower than the same period a year earlier. Lloyd’s ultimately made losses of £2bn last year due to claims following the catastrophes. Beale ( pictured) said: ‘These results and return to profit demonstrate the strength of the Lloyd’s market following one of the costliest years for catastrophes in the past decade. Whilst these results are welcome, Lloyd’s continues to concentrate on improving long-term performance, by taking action to address underperforming areas.’ Beale leaves Lloyd’s in less than a month, to be replaced by John Neal, former head of Australian insurer QBE.
