Moss Bros football woe

-

MOSS Bros shares fell 14pc after it blamed dismal results on the hot summer and World Cup.

It lost £1.7m in the six months to July 28, having posted a profit of £3.9m in the same period last year.

And it suffered a 3.3pc drop in revenue to £64.5m and warned profits for the full year would be ‘materially lower than current market expectation of £2.3m’. Shares fell to their lowest level since 2012 – 40p.

Moss Bros chief executive Brian Brick said trading performance over the period ‘was one of the most volatile for many years’ with the football tournament in Russia a major factor. The number of shoppers in stores was down by an average of 7pc year-on-year.
