My skin is starting to age — are there any new cures?

I’M PAST 40 and I’ve started to see the first signs of ageing in my face — my skin is noticeably sagging and thinning. What can I do to stop it getting worse?

AI’M IN my 40s and I have seen those signs, too. My latest solution is an ‘injectable moisturiser’, a new treatment that, at its most successful, makes your skin radiant and slightly denser (skin thins with age as your collagen depletes).

These treatments can give slack-ish areas a subtle lift in parts of the face such as the nose to mouth, jowls and temples. My favourite option is Profhilo — this involves six injections of hyaluronic acid (HA) solution, with a texture a bit like a face serum, in the areas mentioned.

These will form bizarre protrusions for about 12 hours (thank goodness I had this on a Friday afternoon, as I looked like an alien freak!), before the substance disperses under the skin and stays there for several months, making it more translucent and firmer, but not visibly ‘padded’ (as can be the case with more viscous filler injections).

Always choose a reputable doctor. Dr Sarah Tonks ( the

lovelyclinic.co.uk) suggests two treatments, one month apart, to ‘build’ density, with top- ups every three to six months. She charges £450 per session, while outside London, prices start at around £300.
