CHAMPIONSHIP THIS WEEKEND

- By AMITAI WINEHOUSE 22 Since the start of last season, Lewis Grabban has hit 22 Championship goals, more than any other player.

HERO OF THE WEEK

DAVID McGOLDRICK (Sheffield United): Sheffield united were two goals ahead heading into the last 10 minutes against Preston. then callum Robinson and daniel Johnson scored one each in two minutes to seemingly cost chris Wilder’s side the win. Step forward david McGoldrick. With just three minutes left on the clock, he dragged his team back into the lead from close range and, this time, they saw it out.

ZERO OF THE WEEK

PAUL HURST (Ipswich manager): Most will accept that Ipswich have fairly limited resources, but after eight games without a win there must be questions about Paul Hurst, who took over the side in the summer. Mick McCarthy had his critics but he also seemed to guarantee safety. Ipswich had a chance to finally earn a win after playing nearly 60 minutes against 10-man Bolton. Even so, they failed to muster any chances. ‘You can only put it down to confidence,’ said Hurst. A result would help inspire some.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Not many managers are willing to lavish praise on the opposition after being comfortably beaten. Neil Harris saw enough in West Brom’s 2-0 win against his Millwall side to set them a challenging target: ‘they could score 600 goals this season! they are just a goal threat.’

TWEET OF THE WEEK

At 3-0 up against Stoke in the 73rd minute, Blackburn’s Twitter account was confident enough to tweet about them ‘cruising’ towards victory. Saido Berahino then hit one. Tom Ince reduced the deficit even further with 10 minutes to go. And when Berahino stood over a penalty in the 90th minute, it seemed a social media manager might get a talking-to. They lucked out — he crashed the ball against the bar and Rovers survived.

GOAL OF THE WEEK JOHN McGINN

for Aston Villa v Sheff Wed call off the goal of the season competition. And not just in the championship. John McGinn has it sewn up after his blistering volley. the ball dropped to him on the edge of the area. He caught it perfectly, sending the ball spinning outside the post and back in, only to hit the crossbar and crash over the line.
