Blaming the victims
ONE easy target for Mr McDonnell however, is the big banks, who continue to treat their clients with utter contempt.
We reveal today that around 1,300 people a week are being gulled into giving up account details to sophisticated online fraudsters – sometimes losing huge amounts of money. But most are being abandoned by their banks, who say it’s entirely the customer’s own fault.
This is nothing short of a scandal. The banks have enabled these frauds by forcing ever more people into internet banking.
So when the system fails, they must take responsibility – not callously blame the victims for their own misfortune.
