George Michael tried to stab himself 25 times in rehab, claims ex-lover

GEORGE Michael tried to stab himself 25 times when he was in rehab, his former boyfriend Fadi Fawaz has claimed.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, he said the late singer ‘wanted to die so badly’ and had attempted suicide four times – including an incident where he apparently fell out of a speeding car.

Risking the fury of Michael’s family, Mr Fawaz, who had a stormy five-year relationship with the Wham! star, also wrote in detail about the state of his body when he found him dead on Christmas Day 2016.

Mr Fawaz’s relationship with the singer’s family has become increasingly volatile after it appeared they would inherit Michael’s reported £105million estate.

However, it is believed the probate is yet to be settled on the will, with Mr Fawaz claiming he was promised the star’s £5million mansion near Regent’s Park, north-west London.

In the online post, Mr Fawaz wrote: ‘He has tried to kill himself four times, whilst in rehab he tried to stab himself 25 times … I would say, “Aren’t you glad May 16 didn’t happen?”, referring to one suicide attempt, and he would say, “No.” He wanted to die so badly and it was powerful to hear him say it. I think life stopped for him a long time ago.’

Mr Fawaz previously claimed the singer, 53, had deliberately taken his own life and lay dead for 24 hours before he was found.

He raised eyebrows after revealing he slept in his car outside his boyfriend’s mansion on Christmas Eve 2016, meaning he only found the star’s body the next day. Mr Fawaz often makes claims on social media about Michael and his family, to the anger of some fans.

On May 16, 2013, Michael apparently fell out of the passenger seat of a car driving at 70mph along the M1. He was said to have been ‘trying to close the car’s door’ because it was not shut properly.

But Mr Fawaz has claimed that a depressed Michael had ‘thrown himself out of the vehicle’.

In a string of emotional posts, Mr Fawaz also wrote about finding Michael’s body at his home in Goringon-Thames, Oxfordshire. He said: ‘I could see that his right hand was up to his face with his fist clenched with his fingers curled against his cheek … I touched him but he was cold. I couldn’t tell he was dead until I saw his fingers were blue … I was shaking him.’

A coroner’s report last year said Michael died of natural causes and had dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver. The results of a post-mortem examination were never made public at the family’s request. There was no mention of toxicology test results.
