All eyes on Superbrat

-

MANY of the crowd watching today’s celebrity match at Le Golf national will be looking to see if US team member John McEnroe will lose it on the course like he did on the tennis court. McEnroe — nicknamed Superbrat — has form at golf as well as tennis. Playing an exhibition match in the Dominican Republic, he misread a putt after not taking his caddie’s advice. ‘I didn’t listen,’ he yelled before stomping off to his buggy without bothering to complete the hole.

The bus services organised by Ryder Cup Travel for the 2014 tournament in Gleneagles were so shambolic that some drivers had no clue where they were going. One even stopped for a rest because he had reached his maximum number of hours. Luckily the short distance to the course from Versailles hotels has solved both of those problems and it is unlikely the European Tour will feel the need to pay compensation to media for the inconvenience caused, as they did four years ago. CHRIS Burns, the former RFU competitions manager who was made redundant in the recent cull, is already back at Twickenham. The popular Burns, confined to a wheelchair since a rugby injury, is acting in a part-time consultancy role. c.sale@dailymail.co.uk and twitter.com/charliesale
