JOANNA LUMLEY’S SILK ROAD ADVENTURE, 9PM, ITV

-

PART three finds Joanna Lumley in Iran, once the heart of the Persian Empire. But before heading to the ruins of the ancient empire’s capital, Persepolis, Joanna explores the current capital, Tehran, where she learns a fascinating fact about Iranian film from Bahram Radan, who’s been dubbed ‘Iran’s Brad Pitt’ — despite looking nothing like him. The fact is this: gender boundaries in Iran are so strict that men are not allowed to be shown touching women on screen. The everyday dress requirements for women in Iran are betterknown, and Ms Lumley seeks out Instagram star Reihane Taravati (both pictured) for a spot of shopping, to stay ‘both stylish and within the law’.
