FOOTBALL Liverpool v Chelsea, 7pm, Sky Football, 7.30pm, Main Event

THE tie of the League Cup third round takes place at Anfield as the Reds face the Blues. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has yet to win a trophy in England, but with his side currently leading the pack in the Premier League and a trip to Italy in the Champions League next week, how seriously will he take this competition?

ON-DEMAND MOVIE Edie, BT TV/Sky Store/Virgin Movies

THIS simple, engaging tale stars Sheila Hancock as a widow who seeks meaning up a mountain in the stunning Scottish Highlands.

ANIMAL RESCUE Saving Britain’s Wildlife, 8pm, Quest Red

A WILD bird has spent too much time in human hands in tonight’s new episode of this thoughtful series about the RSPCA, which also features a trapped deer. The enthusiasm the staff have for their work is clear to see — and infectious. (Freeview 38, Sky 149, Virgin 215)

COMEDIANS’ CONTEST Taskmaster, 9pm, Dave

SOMETHING about the way the contenders have gelled is making this the best season of Taskmaster in a while. In tonight’s madcap new episode, Rhod Gilbert finds a new excuse to dig out that semi-naked picture of Greg Davies, who is later forced to give James Acaster a fatherly talking-to after he misbehaves on set.

LOS ANGELES DRAMA 9-1-1, 9pm, Sky Witness

THIS U.S. show loves a theme to ramp up its already OTT sense of drama. Last week, it was Valentine’s Day, and tonight, the emergency workers are responding to calls during a full moon. Athena, who must secretly be wishing she was still confined to desk duty, winds up facing a rabid criminal.

DISASTER SURVIVORS The Last Ship, 9pm, Sky One

AFTER weathering the pandemic that nearly wiped out the world, the U.S. is getting back on its feet in this final season, and the USS Nathan James is no longer its Last Ship — the country has a steadily expanding Navy. Not everyone is pleased about that, though, and the crew — including Slattery (Adam Baldwin, pictured) soon have a fight on their hands again.

CHILEAN FILM A Fantastic Woman, 9.45pm, Sky Premiere

THE main character in this Oscar-winning drama is a trans woman, but while the film engages in the challenges of her life, its exploration of love and loss is entirely universal. After the death of her partner, Marina (Daniela Vega) is shunned and isolated.

FAMILY TIES Long Lost Family U.S., 10pm, Quest Red

THE first of tonight’s stories features a neat coincidence, but it’s the second that packs the big emotional punch. Daniel is a softly spoken deputy sheriff who is looking for his mum, and the tale that emerges is by turns harrowing and uplifting.

FANTASY FILM Tale Of Tales, 11pm, Film4

A DARK, sumptuous anthology, inspired by the Pentamerone, a collection of Italian fairy tales. Salma Hayek (pictured with John C. Reilly) is a queen who goes to extremes to bear a child — and pays a bloody price. In another tale, Toby Jones is a king who rejects his daughter, bestowing his favour instead on an unlikely companion.
