Tickled pink! Darcey trades her tutu for trainers

SHE always looked good in pointe shoes and a tutu – but Dame Darcey Bussell was on a different mission as she pulled on some bright pink trainers yesterday.

The former principal dancer of The Royal Ballet also donned a pair of dark Lycra leggings as she led an intense workout to mark National Fitness Day.

The Strictly Come Dancing judge was joined on stage by athlete Colin Jackson and gymnast Max Whitlock for the event at the City of London Corporation’s Guildhall Courtyard.

Her black vest featured the DDMIX logo – the name of her dance fitness brand.

The star, 49, demonstrated a squat and a high kick during the workout, which attracted a large crowd who joined in with her.

Asked about the latest crop of Strictly contestants, the mother of two said: ‘They are all impressing me, actually, it’s such a shock.

‘On the first show, there was so much ability there it was extraordinary. It’s going to be really hard seeing people go, I don’t want anybody to go, because there were so many surprises.’
