Honest mistake

-

WHAT a refreshing, positive attitude from BBc newsreader Mishal Husain (Inspire). Despite having had to ‘fight her way to the top’ as a woman, she still has some lovely comments about Great Britain, such as ‘with a name like mine, my career would only have been possible in Britain’ and ‘there’s something very special about Britain that has made that possible’.

The tone of her comments were in complete contrast to a recent article about angry TV presenter Anita Rani (‘Disrespect! TV star Anita is mistaken for Saira Khan’), when Anita had tweeted: ‘I’ve shrugged it off so many times like loads of people. I’m just making a point...There are only a handful of brown women on TV.’

Really, Anita? People of all colours get mistaken for someone else.

I was approached in a pub from behind and lifted up by a pair of arms around my waist, then swung around — only for the person to realise that I was not the friend he had mistakenly thought I was.

I soon got over it with a loud laugh and a handshake with my very redfaced assailant! roBerT Marshall,
