Pickford nets £24m contract
JORDAN PICKFORD has committed his future to Everton by signing a contract reflecting his status as England’s No 1 goalkeeper. Pickford’s advisers struck a new deal worth about £24million over six years, making him one of Everton’s top earners. The contract, with no release clause, runs to June 2024. Pickford, 24, who cost £30million when bought from Sunderland 15 months ago, said: ‘I thought Everton would be a right step in my career. ‘Getting the chance to be England’s No 1 was down to being at Everton, a massive club with a massive history. It’s inspired me to perform and moved my career on.’ Although Everton’s form was erratic during his first season, Pickford’s consistency saw him being linked with Chelsea but he added: ‘I want to play as many games as I can for the club and keep that England No 1 shirt.’
