Albino squirrel who fell out of a tree (but he’s all white now)
A BABY albino squirrel is being cared for after being blown out of a tree by a gust of wind.
Four-week- old Omo (pictured) was found shivering by a passer-by. The grey is now being hand-reared at the Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital in Salisbury.
Omo – who weighs just under two ounces and can fit into the palm of his carer’s hand – is thought to be one of only 25 albino squirrels in Britain.
He is being bottle- fed kitten milk formula along with a mix of beech nuts and hazelnuts. He will stay at the hospital through the winter, when a decision will be made on releasing him into the wild.
The odds of a squirrel being born albino, caused by a gene mutation, are thought to be one in 100,000.
