A CHAIR MADE FROM PLANTS

- JENNY COAD

WHAT DO YOU MEAN ? The materials are derived from plants. The back rest and legs are made from linen fibres, the seat is a bio-based resin and the metal details are recycled brass. SOUNDS ECO-FRIENDLY. That’s the idea. It’s also 96 per cent recyclable. Revology, the New Zealand based team behind it, are committed to creating sustainable designs. WHAT’S THEIR STORY? Co-founders and husband and wife Alex Guichard and Monique Kelly founded the company on Christmas Day in 2013. Monique had bought Alex two second-hand chairs as a gift and it sparked an idea. ANYTHING ELSE? The seat can also come decorated with a lacy looking handetched pattern by New Zealand artist Leigh Cooper. HOW MUCH IS IT? Quite pricey. From €450 (£400), revology.com
