PICK OF THE DAY
DROWNING IN PLASTIC, 8.30PM, BBC1
THIS powerful featurelength film sees Liz Bonnin (pictured) lifting the lid on the full shocking scale of the world’s plastic problem and its impact on wildlife. Travelling to the U.S., the Arctic, Australia and Indonesia, Liz follows plastic waste to find out what happens when it reaches the sea, and visits some of the Earth’s ‘plastic hot spots’ — truly depressing places where the problem is at its worst. It sounds bleak, but the good news is that, around the world, great scientific minds are beavering away, trying to come up with a solution to this very modern problem.
