KICK HIM OUT FOR THIS HEAD STAMP
AMID a global crackdown on dangerous contact with the head, Connacht prop Dominic Robertson-McCoy should expect a savage ban for a ‘deliberate stamp to the head’ of Leinster flanker Josh van der Flier during a Pro14 clash in Galway on Saturday. It was a disgraceful offence against a player who was on the ground and unable to protect his head. The red card for Robertson-McCoy was entirely justified and — with players being banned for several weeks for accidental collisions — he should not play again this season. His crime was among the most heinous in rugby. It damages the reputation of the sport and should be punished accordingly.
