Hunt is the Brexiteers’ new darling
AFTEr Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt’s platform speech, in which he expressed loyalty to the Prime Minister, he was briefly a star turn at a reception in the achingly cool Ikon Gallery, held by the arch-Brexiteer Daniel Hannan, a leading Tory MEP.
Hunt, who voted remain but now says he is a committed Brexiteer, went down a storm with the audience.
His presence at the Brexitfest is a clear sign that he, like many of his Cabinet colleagues, is on leadership manoeuvres, which was underscored by the fact that he was on parade with his fragrant wife Lucia — not normally wheeled out for the cameras at conference — the day before.
She, of course, is the woman he recently told Chinese dignitaries is Japanese, even though she is, in fact, Chinese.
