Today’s poem

THE PHOTOGRAPH

-

One photograph is all I have Worth more to me than gold. One photograph to kiss goodnight, One photograph to hold.

Its tattered edges witness Those caresses meant for you, The colours fade with time because My eyes absorb your hue.

This photograph can bring you close When we are far apart, So familiar to my eyes Imprinted on my heart.

This photograph’s a substitute But for now it must do, ‘Til one day it’s not needed Because it’s replaced by you.

Judith Blatherwick, Garvald, East Lothian.
