House of Fraser clear-out

-

SPORTS Direct has sacked all of House of Fraser’s top directors and management after the £90m takeover of the department store.

The chain, which is run by tracksuit tycoon Mike Ashley, said it had dismissed all former directors and senior management following calls for an investigation into its collapse in August.

sports Direct bought House of Fraser out of administration just hours after it collapsed.

Chief executive Alex Williamson is understood to be among those who have been fired, after just over a year at the helm. He joined House of Fraser last year with no retail experience after nine years heading up Goodwood racecourse.

since buying House of Fraser, sports Direct has been battling with landlords to keep the majority of its 59 stores open. it has agreed deals to keep 20 stores open which includes its flagship store on oxford street.

A sports Direct spokesman confirmed yesterday that ‘we have dismissed the former directors and senior management of House of Fraser’.
