Indian tycoon leaving M&S

THE Indian businessma­n who brought Archie Norman to Marks & Spencer is standing down as a director.

Vindi Banga, 63, joined the board of the High Street stalwart in September 2011 and became senior independen­t director in March 2015. He oversaw the hiring of Norman as chairman and was instrument­al in the appointmen­t of Steve Rowe as chief executive in 2016.

Banga worked for Unilever for 33 years and is also a non executive director at Glaxosmith­kline.
