Shameless!
Days after getting off his speeding charge, Becks is promoting fast cars
GIVEN that he’s embroiled in a row over speeding, the timing was far from ideal.
Days after being roundly condemned for dodging a conviction on a technicality, David Beckham raced to promote new ‘fast’ cars yesterday.
The former footballer’s backing of the Vietnamese-made VinFast cars will fuel complaints that he has been unrepentant after being caught driving a Bentley nearly 20mph over the limit in London.
Beckham, worth an estimated £339million, appeared at the Paris Motor Show alongside Miss Vietnam to launch two models of car. They have turbocharged 2.0-litre engines, and he described them as a ‘miracle for Vietnam’, whose national flag he held while posing for pictures.
‘To create something in such a short space of time is really incredible,’ he said. ‘It’s beautiful. It’s sleek. It’s modern. It’s high-tech. It’s incredible.’ Edmund King of the AA said: ‘VinFast is obviously trying to cash in on Brand Beckham.’ A judge last week ruled Beckham could not be convicted as a notice of prosecution arrived a day late.
