Rail refunds in ‘one click’

-

COMMUTERS will find it easier to get a refund if their train is delayed or cancelled under new proposals.

Disgruntled travellers would only have to go through a ‘one-click’ process to receive their money rather than write lengthy complaints, Mrs May said.

Customers would only need to register their details once with train operators. These would be saved for future claims. However this will only be a requirement for companies bidding for future rail franchises, meaning it could take years to come into effect nationwide.

The Prime Minister said: ‘On some routes the service has not been good enough. We will fix that.

‘And while we do so, we will build in a new system of auto-compensation, so that when your train is late you won’t have to waste more getting your money back.’
