Get moving with Len and share your story!

MORE than ten million people are living with arthritis in the UK — and former Strictly Come Dancing head judge Len Goodman wants to help by sharing his mobility story. It’s part of a #LetsGetMoving campaign he is launching with the makers of a drug-free gel designed to lubricate the joints and relieve arthritis pain. Len has battled back from a knee replacement operation and shoulder surgery, as well as osteoarthritis, to continue playing his beloved golf. His empowering story shows the importance of being active despite having arthritis and the positive role that exercise can play in day-to-day life. Len says: ‘Of course, experiencing pain every day makes it hard, but it’s so important to keep going. ‘Don’t let it get you down. You have two choices, either sit around and feel sorry for yourself, which is only going to make things worse, or get up and get moving again. ‘It’s all about baby steps. After my knee operation I used to go swimming a lot, sometimes simply walking through the water. Slowly but surely my joints began to move more freely, and I was back on the golf course in no time! ‘It is a challenge but you can do it. I want to help people get moving again — so come on Britain, Let’s Get Moving.’ Len is asking people to share their own stories as part of the campaign, which aims to empower the nation to fight back, take control and get mobile again. The writer of the most inspiring story, as chosen by Len (pictured above in London’s vintage Rivoli ballroom), will win a year’s supply of the drug-free gel. To enter the competition, share your story on either Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #LetsGetMoving (terms and conditions apply).
