Moore’s big gamble pays off

- ALAN BIGGS

DARREN MOORE hit the jackpot with the first triple substitution of his league managerial career. West Bromwich Albion were 2-0 down when he gambled, hauling off 13-goal strike pair, Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle, and Tyrone Mears. But the forward who survived, Harvey Barnes, forced an own goal from Joey Pelupessy and scored another seconds later to snatch a point at Hillsborough. It was still short of the win the Baggies needed to reclaim top spot but a sixth match without defeat felt like a victory. Goals from Adam Reach — a second

25-yard wonder strike in six days — and Fernando Forestieri had seemingly put Sheffield Wednesday in control. ‘To make three substitutions and it come off is great,’ said Moore, who put on Wes Hoolahan, Hal Robson-Kanu and Gareth Barry. Owls boss Jos Luhukay said: ‘We played a very good game but didn’t have the coolness and everyone is disappointed.’
