OLD TRAFFORD PLAN FOR GENDER-NEUTRAL LOOS

- MIKE KEEGAN

MANCHESTER UNITED are thinking about installing gender-neutral toilets to make Old Trafford more ‘welcoming and inclusive’. Supporters of the concept say it will please the disabled and parents with children. However, critics say it takes away a safe space for women. The BBC, the Home Office and Channel 4 already have genderneutral toilets, while last year Swansea City told fans they could opt to be identified as gender neutral on match tickets. United would be the first top-flight club with the facility. The club are also fitting ‘hostile vehicle mitigation bollards’ on the approaches to Old Trafford. Designed to prevent attacks by vehicles used as weapons, they will be in place this year.
