UK cannot be divided
COULD Theresa May have been any clearer over the Irish border question? Whatever Brexit deal is finally reached, she will not split the United Kingdom by accepting a separate customs arrangement for Northern Ireland from the rest of our country.
Yet European Council president Donald Tusk continued yesterday to push a ‘Canadastyle’ deal – which would do exactly that.
He also suggests Mrs May was ‘emotional’ after her Salzburg humiliation. She wasn’t emotional, she was angry – angry at his lack of respect and angry that he is pushing us inexorably towards a no-deal Brexit.
This is something that would punish his own member states as much as Britain – possibly much more. Does he really think that’s what they want?
FOLLOWING our chilling investigation into the trafficking of vulnerable children to act as dealers for pernicious ‘ county lines’ drug gangs, the Mail welcomes the first successful prosecution of a gang boss under the Modern Slavery Act. We fervently hope this conviction is the first of many. This is child exploitation at its very worst. It must be stamped out.
