Katie Price facing drink-drive charge
Ex-model spends night in cells after 2am arrest in crashed Range Rover
FORMER glamour model Katie Price was arrested on suspicion of drinkdriving early yesterday after her pink Range Rover was found crashed at the roadside.
The 40-year- old, formerly known as Jordan, had been at the 30th birthday party of ex-boyfriend Kris Boyson.
She is thought to have been driving home to her mansion in West Sussex. Instead the Loose Women panellist spent the night in police cells after officers asked her to take a breath test. They had found Miss Price’s damaged vehicle in Woolwich, South East London at 2am after it reportedly crashed into a bush.
Mr Boyson could be seen sitting with his head in his hands in the foyer of nearby Plumstead police station yesterday as he waited for her to be released.
Mr Boyson – who held his birthday party at The Meze, a Turkish restaurant in Bexleyheath – refused to comment. Miss Price was smuggled out of the police station to avoid being photographed.
The Metropolitan Police said later: ‘At approximately 2am, British Transport Police officers came across a car showing signs of damage stationary at the roadside in Shooters Hill Road, Woolwich.
‘A 40-year-old woman who was inside the car was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. She was taken to a South London police station.’
A Met spokesman said Miss Price had not been charged but was released under investigation. The incident adds to a turbulent year during which she has been accused of other driving offences and flirted with bankruptcy. In February, Miss Price was banned from driving for six months by Brighton magistrates after failing to provide driver details when she was caught speeding at 60mph in a 50mph zone on the A24 at Dial Post, West Sussex. She failed to turn up at court and was convicted in her absence.
She was also fined £750 with £200 costs and a £75 surcharge.
To compound her problems, it emerged in July that mother-offive Miss Price had been pictured driving two weeks before the end of the ban. After she was photographed behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta, she reported herself to police and is awaiting the outcome of their inquiries.
In 2012 she was banned for a year after failing to respond to two speeding tickets, claiming her mother ‘dealt with her post’.
She recently revealed she has been receiving treatment at The Priory clinic after being diagnosed with post- traumatic stress disorder.
Miss Price, who was once said to be worth £45million, has also been reported to be suffering from serious financial worries. Land Registry documents show her £2million home has a bankruptcy notice against it, as well as two further legal charges.
In August she narrowly avoided being declared bankrupt, agreeing to an Individual Voluntary Arrangement that gave her until October 30 to outline how she will pay what she owes her creditors.
Miss Price reportedly has debts of about £250,000, including around £25,000 said to be owed to the taxman.
One report suggested Miss Price’s debts may have spiralled to more than £500,000.
