A GREAT big warming glass of gorgeousness made by a fantastic producer in South Australia. Expect plenty of spice and intense black fruit flavours in velvet soft tannins. Perfect for the turning weather.

WHITE WINE Tesco Finest Soave Classico Superiore, £7, Tesco

DELICIOUSLY understated, this is made from the Garganega grape in the hills around Veneto in northern Italy. Some of the blend was aged in oak barrels, adding weight and flavour to this peachy white.

FOOD PAIRING: Grilled chicken.

RED WINE Straka Blaufränkisch 2.25l, £33.50, bibwine.co.uk

BAG in a box wine just got a lot smarter. This is my favourite red, made from the Blaufrankisch grape, with bright juicy berry fruit flavours. Once open, it will keep for at least six weeks. FOOD PAIRING: Meatballs and pasta.

SPARKLING WINE Folletto D’Oro Prosecco, £9.99, Aldi

THE word Superiore on the label indicates this is slicker than your average Prosecco. From Aldi’s clever ‘Lot Series’, showcasing limited edition wine. Fantastic fizz at this price, with fresh pear flavours.
