GET THAT MOVIE STAR LOOK
THe Westmore brothers made everyone from Joan Crawford to Greta Garbo ‘camera-ready’.
In 1935, they launched their make-up boutique The House of Westmore on Hollywood Boulevard and celebrities who attended the launch were given a special, limited-edition compact as a gift.
Sadly, their brand went bust, as the brothers were great artists but lousy businessmen.
I have become friends with the family and ern’s great-granddaughter Christiana Benson gave me this compact. PAID: nothing — it was a gift.
WORTH: £500 (the compacts were given to Marlene Dietrich, Joan Blondell, Clara Bow, Kay Francis, Carole lombard and Claudette Colbert on the night).
