Brolly good show! Keira and Eleanor dodge the deluge

- By Mary O’Connor

IT was hardly the perfect evening for a red carpet event in the open air.

But despite the pouring rain, Keira Knightley still dazzled at the premiere of her latest film, Colette.

Wearing a shimmering silver and white dress and with her hair in a braided updo, the 33-year-old actress was shielded by an umbrella as she posed on the red carpet and gave interviews ahead of the Leicester Square screening, part of the BFI London Film Festival.

Miss Knightley plays the French fin-de-siecle author Colette, who is pushed by her husband Henry GauthierVillars, played by Dominic West, to write novels under his name.

When her books gain widespread popularity, she fights against the gender norms of the early 1900s to reveal she is the true author.

Miss Knightley was joined on the red carpet by Poldark star Eleanor Tomlinson.

Miss Tomlinson, 26, wore a black, floor-length dress with sheer cut-out panels around the shoulders. Her fiery red hair was styled in loose waves.

She plays Georgie RaoulDuval – who has affairs with both Colette and Gauthier-Villars.
