Futile protest

-

THE high turn- out in London to campaign for a second vote on EU membership will achieve little.

The only referendum that counts took place in 2016 when a majority voted to Leave.

Apart from a nice day out in the sunshine, the protest gained nothing. Why can’t they give up gracefully and stop these futile gestures?

PAUL PRITZ, Wolverhampton, W. Mids. I VOTED Remain in the referendum, but accepted the result. In any second vote, I suspect like many others who initially voted Remain, I would vote Leave. Anything else would be an affront to democracy.

I believe that the result of a second vote could easily be a much stronger Leave result.

PETER FISHER, Oakham, Rutland. THE People’s Vote march was full of ‘call me a celebrity’ types. In 2016, more than 17 million intelligent, wellread, well-informed people who knew our own minds, from teenagers to silver surfers, voted to Leave.

We live in a democracy and so all have the right to our own opinion. However, when some people don’t get their own way, they throw their toys out of the pram. VERONICA HALL, Potters Bar, Herts. ALASTAIR CAMPBELL and Tony Blair ignored 100,000 people marching against the Iraq invasion. Yet now, because it suits their views on Brexit, they insist we have to listen to the People’s Vote marchers. CHARLES HOUGHTON,

Wrexham, Clwyd.
