THE beauty of South Africa, aside from its natural wonders, is that it’s so diverse, geographically – on an epic scale. From jaw-dropping, shimmering coastlines to out-of-this-world safaris and game reserves, via Winelands and scenic marvels, it’s a joyous and culturally rich destination. Sunset drives are particularly spectacular, where views can be appreciated in all their dramatic glory. Outdoor activities are action packed and there is also no shortage of buzzing cities, where a world-class culinary scene awaits.

VIBRANT CITIES

NO VISIT to South Africa would be complete without a stop in Cape Town, not least for its unbeatable Table Mountain views – best seen from atop a cable car for a truly spectacular panoramic experience, though if you are feeling adventurous you can also hike up to its plateau – and its endlessly appealing white-sanded beaches. But the city has an undeniable urban cool, a happening art scene and a big array of world-renowned restaurants and bars.

Cape Town is also a gateway to the beautiful Winelands region and the Garden Route, a popular trail skirting a magnificent coastline, with big, bold views. Then there’s Johannesburg, with its sprawling, fascinating neighbourhoods, fine dining and hip night scene, while Durban is a subtropical wonder, as well as a surfer’s paradise, that has a cutting-edge city scene
