Managers back to salute Vichai
CLAUDIO RANIERI, nigel Pearson and Craig Shakespeare are all due to attend Leicester’s game against Burnley as the club pays tribute to Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, Sportsmail can disclose.
The three managers, who played such major roles in Leicester’s remarkable recent history, will come together for the first time after accepting invitations from the club’s board.
Srivaddhanaprabha’s grieving son, Aiyawatt, will be there with his family and is set to welcome the trio to the King Power Stadium.
All three were sacked by the Leicester chairman but stayed friends and want to be at the Burnley game to pay their respects. Each has visited the memorial site outside the ground to lay flowers.
Pearson won the Championship, then kept the team in the top flight against all hopes.
Ranieri arrived to win the Premier League L title titl and d catapult t lt the th club lb into global consciousness. Shakespeare then stepped up from his role as assistant the following season to steer Leicester to safety and into the Champions League last eight. The three men are set to be in the stands for a two-minute silence for Srivaddhanaprabha, bh th the f four others th who h l lost t their lives in the helicopter crash, and also Remembrance Sunday.
Steve Walsh, Leicester’s former head of recruitment responsible for unearthing the likes of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and n’Golo Kante, is also set to be in the crowd. He is arriving back from a holiday in Australia today and will head straight to Leicester.
‘I spent 10 years at Leicester and you feel the hurt, you feel the pain,’ Shakespeare told talkSPoRT.
‘It’s been hard to deal with. You have to try to get a grasp of it and pay your respects.’
