We’ve been expecting you in a shoot like this, Mr Madden

- By Alisha Rouse Showbusiness Correspondent

SUAVE good looks, a glint in the eye, a classic silver sports car... Bodyguard star richard Madden seems to have all the credentials needed to play James Bond.

his toned physique and immaculate tuxedo, jacket flung casually over one shoulder, help add to the image of a perfect would-be 007.

Madden’s pose for GQ magazine will raise the hopes of fans who thrilled to his star turn as bodyguard David Budd in the BBC drama.

the actor – who like original Bond star Sean Connery is Scottish – did nothing to dispel the rumours he may follow Daniel Craig, who is stepping down as 007 after the next film.

‘I’m more than flattered to be mentioned,’ Madden, 32, told GQ, admitting he is a Bond fan. When pushed about whether he’d take the role, for which Idris elba and tom hiddleston are also rumoured candidates, he insisted he is being discussed only because of Bodyguard.

‘this is what happens with all these shows, like tom hiddleston in the Night Manager,’ he said. at the time of the photoshoot, his hair was darkened for the film rocketman – he plays elton John’s lover and manager John reid.

a second Bodyguard is likely, even though Madden said making the first series took ‘so much out of me physically, mentally and personally’.

the full feature is in the January/ february edition of GQ, available to download from today and in shops from December 6.
