Knifed to death in rape fantasy, Venezuelan who came to Britain for a better life

- By Izzy Ferris

SHE left Venezuela in search of a better – and safer – life.

But Stela Domador -Kuzma’s dream of a new start in Britain was destroyed by an act of depraved violence that has seen her murderer jailed for life.

Her housemate R yan Thornton, had downloaded a series of porno - graphic videos depicting rape while he was high on cannabis.

The chef, 20, then crept into Miss Domador-Kuzma’s room hoping to ‘act out’ his vile fantasy as a ‘ birthday present to himself ’, Winchester Crown Court heard.

His 34-year-old victim saw him and screamed – so he ‘stabbed and stabbed and stabbed’ her.

After murdering the bank worker , Thornton took a knife and masking tape to her room at 4.30am. He then had sex with her body before lock - ing her door and fleeing.

Miss Domador-Kuzma, who had only moved into the flat in B ournemouth, a week earlier, was stabbed a total of 17 times. She suffered serious wounds to her neck , chest, left arm and left leg.

Her killer was yesterday sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 22 years.

High Court Judge Mrs Justice May spoke of Miss Domador -Kuzma’s ‘grave misfortune’ at being in the neighbouring room to Thornton.

The court heard she had moved to the country from V enezuela four years ago in search of a ‘new future’.

Prosecutor Matthew Jewell QC told the court that two witnesses were walking home when Thornton hobbled out of an alleyway at 5am on July 7, claiming he had been pushed over in the woods and stabbed.

Police then sent a dog handler to the area, but found no blood.

‘Officers entered his room and saw an open laptop with a video of a male having sex with a female, who was bound with what looked like tape,’ Mr Jewell said.

Police were let into the victim ’s room by another housemate and found a knife in front of the sofa.

‘The duvet [was] removed from the

‘Unexpected and irreparable loss’

bed and her body was discovered, legs astride, her back arched and head tilted to the left,’ Mr Jewell told the court.

In a statement from Miss DomadorKuzma’s mother Olga, which was read to the court, she said: ‘Stela left Venezuela in the hope of finding a new home – a place where she felt safe, where justice and law exist. She chose the UK for its job oppor - tunities and safe society.

‘I missed not having Stela with me... but knew she was only a phone call away. Now, every time I want to reach her I have to face the reality she is no longer with us. Nobody deserves to have their beautiful life end in such a heart-breaking way.’

Thornton, of Bournemouth, admitted murder and 11 charges of possessing indecent images of children. Jailing Thornton for life, Mrs Justice May said: ‘Y ou impulsively decided to make a present to yourself of violent, forced sex. I am quite sure you went uninvited to her room to have forced sex with her . You wanted to indulge your fantasy.’
