THE CRUISE SHIP WITH A POOL THAT APPEARS FROM NOWHERE!
CRUISES conjure up thoughts of allyou-can-eat buffets, over-thetop evening entertainment and lazy afternoons sampling exotic ice creams. But hold on to your mooring, because a new company is aiming to change all that next summer, with a ship dedicated to ‘active lifestyle cruising’. This means entire decks given over to a variety of sports, and another housing a spa. Blue World Voyages’ vision features golf simulators, batting cages, yoga, spinning and weight training, plus three pools — including a sea water one which, at the press of a button, emerges from the side of the ship (artist’s impression above). Rather than blobbing around gaining pounds, you’ll be encouraged to try cycling, hiking, yoga and meditation, while kitchens serve farm-to-table cuisine sourced from visited ports. Three 350-guest ships are planned, and each week, one will set sail on a seven-day trip. The maiden voyage will be round the Mediterranean.
In a unique move, passengers will be invited to become business partners with Blue World Voyages through its Founders Club, which is open to the first 500 people who invest in the company’s crowdfunding campaign.
Meanwhile, passengers will also be able to buy one and two-bedroom cabins — starting at £1.79 million — which can be rented for them.
‘Our focus on active lifestyle cruising is not an add-on,’ says Gene Meehan, chairman and founder of Blue World Voyages. ‘It forms the core of our overall cruise travel experience, from ship design and on-board programmes to dining options and itineraries.’ Register now at blueworldvoyages.co.uk and you’ll receive £150 of on-board spa or sports credit.
