Gwyneth: Why I don’t live with my new husband
GWYNETH Paltrow says she has not moved in with her new husband as she worries about being a good stepmother to his two children.
Miss Paltrow, 46, who also has two children, married film director Brad Falchuk in September but the pair do not live together.
‘We are still doing it in our own way,’ the actress told the Wall Street Journal’s WSJ magazine. ‘With teenage kids, you’ve got to tread lightly. It’s pretty intense, the teenage thing. I’ve never been a stepmother before. I don’t know how to do it.’
Falchuk, one of the writers behind sitcom Glee, has son Brody and daughter Isabella from his ten-year marriage to Suzanne Bukinik.
Miss Paltrow has daughter Apple, 14, and son Moses, 12, from her marriage to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. The Shakespeare In Love star, who runs controversial lifestyle brand Goop, admitted that she has faced abuse for becoming a health fanatic.
‘That was the beginning of people thinking I was a crackpot,’ she said.
In a claim likely to bring yet more controversy, Miss Paltrow suggested she helped start the global yoga craze.
‘I went to do a yoga class in LA recently and the 22-yearold girl behind the counter was like, “Have you ever done yoga before?”,’ she said. ‘And literally I turned to my friend, and I was like, “You have this job because I’ve done yoga before”.’
She said that marriage to Falchuk had made her realise ‘we are probably better equipped to choose our life partner when we are halfway through life’.
