■ STICKY WEB Internet bank Monzo raised £18m after giving more than 1m customers a chance to buy shares. But it faced criticism because, as it is not listed on the stock market, the stock will be difficult to sell on in the future.

■ FTSE FAILURE Recruiter Green Park said efforts to get more women on FTSE 100 boards is paying dividends, but not for black, Asian and minority ethnic men and women. On current rates of progress – with one extra company each year – they will not meet the target until 2066.

■ PAY RISING Workers in cities including Liverpool, Glasgow and Southampto­n got pay rises of more than 11pc this year. Advertised salaries were 11.9pc higher in Liverpool in November compared with a year ago. The figure was 1.8pc in Leeds, said jobs site CV-Library, 2.1pc in Brighton and 2.7pc in London.

■ PROFIT FALL Stockbroke­r Numis made £31.6m profit in the year to September 30, down 17pc on the previous 12 months.
