PLAYER RATINGS

- By CHRIS WHEELER AT OLD TRAFFORD

MAN UTD (3-4-3) TEAM AVERAGE 6.5

DAVID DE GEA 6.5 Rare mistake for first goal but made amends with saves from Torreira and Aubameyang. ERIC BAILLY 7 First appearance for two months but looked like he’d never been away. Solid at the back. CHRIS SMALLING 6 Played with fractured bone in his foot. Lost Mustafi in the build-up to the first goal. MARCOS ROJO 6 First game since June and it told as his error let in Arsenal for their second goal. DIOGO DALOT 6.5 Assured display on first Premier League start, making several tackles on Kolasinac in particular. ANDER HERRERA 6 Couldn’t keep out first goal on the line but did well to set up equaliser — though he was offside. NEMANJA MATIC 7 Cool head in the heat of the midfield battle. Kept United organised in front of makeshift defence. MATTEO DARMIAN 6 Another defender pressed into action due to injuries, but did a solid job at left wing-back. JESSE LINGARD 7 Another performance full of effort and purpose was rewarded with a goal. MARCUS RASHFORD 7.5 The youngster’s pace and energy in preferred central role caused Arsenal real problems. ANTHONY MARTIAL 6.5 Continues to be a source of goals for United. Seven in seven Premier League starts now.

SUBSTITUTES

Lukaku 6 (for Martial 63min) Fellaini 6 (for Rojo 72) Pogba 6 (for Lingard 75). Not used: Romero, Mata, Valencia, McTominay. JOSE MOURINHO 7 Bold team selection, leaving out both Pogba and Lukaku, and he was rewarded with a more energetic performance from United.

ARSENAL (3-4-3) TEAM AVERAGE 6.3

BERND LENO 6.5 Slow to react on Lingard’s equaliser, having been assured up to that point. SOKRATIS 6 Great early challenge on Rashford set the tone. Solid performance from the Greek. SHKODRAN MUSTAFI 6.5 Unlikely Arsenal scorer but his poor control contributed to Lingard’s equaliser. ROB HOLDING 6.5 Started well but hurt a leg in a challenge from Rashford and had to be carried off in first half. HECTOR BELLERIN 6 Wasn’t able to get forward as much as he would have liked to cause United problems. LUCAS TORREIRA 6 Combative display but couldn’t replicate his starring role against Spurs. MATTEO GUENDOUZI 6.5 In for the suspended Xhaka, and energetic display ensured the skipper wasn’t missed. SEAD KOLASINAC 7 Linked up well with Iwobi on the left flank, which led to the corner for the first goal. AARON RAMSEY 6.5 Captain for the night but didn’t make it to the second half after hurting ankle in tackle on Matic. P-E AUBAMEYANG 5.5 Quiet night for the Arsenal forward and missed his big chance one-on-one with De Gea. ALEX IWOBI 6 Didn’t make enough of an impression and was eventually replaced by Lacazette.
