Strictly cheeky! Ann’s back for Xmas special ... but as an ugly sister

- By Susie Coen TV and Radio Reporter

SHE lasted ten weeks on Strictly Come Dancing despite consistently receiving abysmal scores.

Eight years on, Ann Widdecombe will return on Christmas Day in a final attempt to impress the judges.

The former Tory MP, 71, transforms into one of Cinderella’s ugly sisters for the festive special, which will see her reunite with her former professional partner Anton Du Beke.

Miss Widdecombe will dress in a peach ballgown with a towering white wig.

She will also sport unflattering makeup – including a drawn-on mole on her face – for the dance with Du Beke, 52.

When she was on the BBC1 show in 2010 she was described as a ‘Dalek in drag’ by judge Bruno Tonioli but said that taking part was ‘life- enhancing’. Speaking about returning, Miss Widdecombe said: ‘It’s always great fun being on Strictly. It’s Christmas light-heartedness and entertainment. It is great fun being back with Anton.’

Other stars returning for the special on Christmas Day at 6.30pm include singer Aston Merrygold, Countryfile’s Anita Rani, cricketer Michael Vaughan, EastEnders actor Jake Wood and Love Island presenter Caroline Flack, who said last week that she spent six months on antidepressants after winning the 2014 series.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Dame Darcey Bussell, Shirley Ballas and Tonioli also get into the Christmas mood, dressing as pantomime characters.

Meanwhile TV presenter Stacey Dooley, the favourite to win this year’s series, was spotted looking comfortably dressed down as she walked her dog in Brighton at the weekend.
