MP Jess reads out Tory’s sexts in Commons

-

A LABOUR MP read out sordid sex texts sent by a Tory MP in Parliament yesterday in protest at his reinstatement to the party.

Jess Phillips responded to the controversial decision by Conservative whips to allow Andrew Griffiths to vote for Theresa May on Wednesday.

Mrs Phillips read out some of the messages Mr Griffiths, a married former chief of staff to the PM, sent to two barmaids. During Business Questions to Commons Leader Andrea Leadsom, she started by saying: ‘She’s so cute, so sweet, I can’t wait to beat her. Can she take a beating?

‘Not my words, but the words of the MP for Burton, as he was barraging two of his female constituents with thousands of sexual text messages.’

‘Last night Mrs Leadsom’s party gave him and the MP for Dover (Charlie Elphicke) the whip back without any due process.

‘What message does this send about how any process here in this place can ever be trusted?’ Mrs Leadsom replied: ‘There has been a process that has been undertaken, it has been a decision by the Chief Whip, it’s not something that I have been privy to.’ That prompted shouts of ‘shame’ from the Labour benches.

Mr Elphicke, who is under police investigation for a serious allegation, had been suspended up until the vote. He has always denied any wrongdoing.
