Keira’s £7,000 role at Palace

She puts on Chanel style to collect OBE

THERE were no costume dramas as Keira Knightley received an OBE from Prince Charles yesterday.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean actress looked chic in a lemon tweed skirt suit with matching boater at the Buckingham Palace investiture.

Her outfit was from Chanel’s spring 2017 couture collection, which has pieces from £7,000. The mother-of-one, who teamed it with a light pink belt and white blouse, is an ambassador for the French fashion house.

Miss Knightley, 33, was honoured for her services to drama and charity. Her work with Oxfam saw her travel to South Sudan in 2014, at a time when conflict had driven some 1.5million people from their homes into horrendous living conditions in temporary camps.

And in 2010 she posed underwater for a video to raise awareness of the Water Aid campaign.

The actress was joined yesterday by her musician husband James Righton, 35, who shunned protocol by not wearing a tie with his morning suit, and her parents, playwright mother Sharman MacDonald, 67, and actor father Will Knightley, 72.

Miss Knightley had her breakthrough role in Bend it Like Beckham in 2002. Other movies include Pride & Prejudice, Anna Karenina, The Imitation Game and Disney’s current Christmas film, The Nutcracker And The Four Realms. Among others being honoured yesterday was actor Timothy Bentinck, who has played David Archer in The Archers since 1982, who received an MBE for services to drama.

Singer Ms Dynamite, real name Niomi McLean-Daley, received an MBE for services to music, and Kevin O’Hare, director of the Royal Ballet, was given a CBE.
